Originally named for the Native American term for what later became known as Mt. Rainier, the city of Tacoma owes its nickname to being the westernmost destination for the Great Northern Railroad. The City of Destiny does have a nice ring to it! Many historical structures still stand, dating back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
We really enjoy getting called out for pest control issues in these older homes and buildings. Often, we are the first humans to enter a crawlspace in 50 years or more! Downtown Tacoma and the nearby Tacoma Dome district have gone through a nice revival in recent decades, with UW Tacoma, Museum of Glass, Washington State History Museum, Union Station, Tacoma Convention and Trade Center, and of course America’s Car Museum.
