Federal Way was originally a logging settlement, and of course the presence of Weyerhauser had a huge impact on the community for many years. The Aquatics Center, Wild Waves, the Commons, and many sports and recreation areas are some of the highlights of living in Federal Way. Some of the prettiest views of Puget Sound and the Olympics can be seen from Federal Way, and the many bodies of water around the area and Dash Point State Park also make it a wonderful place to live.
However, these same bodies of water (plus greenbelt areas around the community), an aging infrastructure along Pacific Highway, and the proximity to Puget Sound on all sides create very conducive conditions for pests to thrive. Any Federal Way resident needs to be prepared for an eventual pest control problem.
