SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Each year from about March through June, Starlings and other pest birds invade many homes in the Puget Sound area. Traditionally our team has been able to address these concerns in a timely manner. In recent years our service schedules have become increasingly busy, and training for this limited-season-pest has become more and more challenging as our team has grown.

We have reached out to a partner company, owned and operated by a long-term industry veteran to refer our bird control calls to. Vernon Craig with Tahoma Pest Management is very capable of handling many challenging bird control scenarios and he will be watching for these calls.

Feel free to research his company, but rest assured, we fully trust Vernon and his team to properly and effectively protect your home or business from bird entry or nesting, and encourage you to call him today.

Starlings

Starlings are fairly small birds that will enter a house through any number of openings.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Birds are a severe nuisance and health hazard when they are nesting in or on a structure.  They can contribute to the spread of bird mites and carpet beetles, and are known vectors for several diseases. Never allow wild birds to roost or nest on (or in) your business or home.

OUR CONTROL PROCESS

Bird control can vary considerably due to many different factors. The species of bird, nesting/roosting locations, and construction style of your home make every bird service unique.

We typically center our bird control programs around exclusion. Our Bird Control Service involves an inspection of the structure to determine all open entry points, weakened possible entry points, and nesting/roosting locations. Our goal is to close up the access points the birds use to gain entry into a structure, and remove perching, roosting, or nesting locations against the exterior.

We use bird spikes, metal screening, hardware netting, and more to make your home unattractive for the birds, while keeping an aesthetically pleasing look. Each situation is very different, and we accommodate your needs and interests into every program we set up. If there is safe access, we can offer removal of a nest as well.

There are a few federally-protected species of birds that we cannot exclude or remove, and do NOT provide services for, including: Woodpeckers, Flickers, Mud/Barn Swallows.  There are some scare tactic materials that can be purchased online, which we suggest you consider as a solution for protected species.

Caution!

Bird nests and droppings are hazardous to your health. Dried bird droppings can become easily airborne while cleaning or removing a bird nest, and they are the perfect environment for many dangerous fungi. Histoplasmosis and Cryptococcus are a few examples of damaging (and possibly fatal) fungus infections spread through the inhalation of bird droppings. Anyone cleaning or removing bird nests should always wear appropriate respiratory protection.
